In the connector industry, one poorly inserted contact or badly press-fitted cap is enough to make a part non-compliant. Every assembly must be checked and every result traced.
METRO solutions combine force and displacement measurement to validate each assembly operation in real time, right at the production station.
The position at which the force rises also verifies the part length: a force rise that comes too early indicates a part that is too long, one that comes too late a part that is too short.
Assembly monitoring with force/displacement curves
Example: integrated on an EMG press, an F3 display monitors the press-fitting of a plastic cap onto a connector. For each part, the F3 plots the force/displacement curve, compares it with the defined criteria and instantly shows the operator a pass/fail result, with batch production tracking.
Typical applications:
- press-fit and snap-fit monitoring (covers, caps, plugs) using force/displacement curves
- insertion force control of contacts and pins in housings
- mating and unmating force measurement on connectors
- pull-out testing on crimped contacts
Results can be exported to your systems via Modbus TCP or PC link for full traceability.
