The M5 Air Gage version features a 5-inch touchscreen dedicated to pneumatic measurement, compatible with any brand of plug, ring, or fork gauges. Thanks to air-jet measurement technology, it achieves repeatability down to 0.02 µm, with specific Mahr/Federal 1-master versions (High/Low) available.
On the connectivity side, it offers USB and RS232 (ASCII/Modbus RTU) ports plus a foot pedal input. Metro offers a turnkey solution combining the display, pneumatic gauge, and accessories. It manages 10 programs in memory and sorting into 16 configurable classes.

The M5 Air Gage connects to any brand of pneumatic plug, ring, or fork gauges. Specific versions compatible with Mahr/Federal 1-master (High and Low) are also available to fit existing installations.
The M5 manages up to 10 programs in memory, sorting into 16 configurable classes, and mathematical functions. Temperature compensation is available via the external MB-TP module. Administrator password protection and a customizable interface ensure simple, secure operation. Compatible with barcode and QR code readers for data entry or screen configuration.
Measurements can be saved:
- To a USB drive in CSV format for use in Excel or any other software.
- When connected to a PC via the USB-C port, the M5 is detected as a standard USB keyboard, writing measurements directly wherever the cursor is positioned
With no driver installation required.
The Air Gage version features dedicated connectors for pneumatic gauges (measurement and air supply), in addition to the 24VDC power supply, the M-Bus port, the USB-A port, the RS232 port, the foot pedal input, and the USB-C port. Metro can supply a complete turnkey solution: pneumatic plug or ring gauge + display + accessories.
Up to 4 MB-IO modules can be connected, providing up to 32 optocoupled inputs/outputs:
- Good/bad part output
- Calibration input
- Dynamic measurement start input
- Class output (1 to 16)

Particularly well suited to 100% inspection stations at the end of a production line, where automatic part sorting is essential.
The M5 communicates with a PLC via Modbus RTU, in addition to the RS232 port (ASCII, QDAS-compatible) for dialogue with a PC. Thanks to its repeatability of up to 0.02 µm, it integrates seamlessly into automated Air gage inspection stations running at high throughput, with results fed to a PLC or an SPC system.
Measurement of an 2mm external diameter on a diesel injector part, using an high resolution air ring directly connected on the M1 display, the old version of the M5 display.
2 needle indicators have been replaced by 1 M5 display. Depending on the air plug in use, the display shows the current measurement. It alows to save space on the working area and to prevent measurement error by a very clear green/red indication

The M3 AG must be used with a precision pressure regulator. It is recommended to use the regulator supplied by Metro to ensure the best possible measurements!

The MB-IO M-Bus box has 8 optocoupled inputs/outputs for additional functionality, e.g. output of good or bad parts, calibration input etc. The M-Bus units are presented in an aluminum profile that can be mounted on a standard DIN rail. More details on this page: M-BUS
Air preparation unit with solenoid valve for air gages with air saving function. This controller can be controlled with the MB-RO module.
Used with Metro M400, M1 or M3 displays, this regulator reduces the pressure (the pressure is divided by approximately 10) automatically after an adjustable period of time without use.
This allows significant savings in electricity, without completely cutting off the air, which would deteriorate the measurement due to the temperature variation.
